ISO-8859-1 vs Windows-1252
ISO-8859-1 and Windows-1252 are very similar, but Windows-1252 uses the 0x80-0x9F range for printable characters (like smart quotes and €) while ISO-8859-1 leaves those positions as control characters. If your text has garbled smart quotes or Euro signs, try the Windows-1252 converter instead.
